Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf is trying to downplay his role in the Republican National Convention after accusations that he violated federal law by heading a naturalization ceremony that aired at the RNC. He said on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday that he did not know the video of a naturalization ceremony he participated in at the White House with President Trump would be broadcast during the political event. He said the department does “hundreds, if not, thousands” of ceremonies like it every year. Critics said the move could violate the Hatch Act, a 1939 law that prohibits federal employees from participating in political activities. Politico

Biden Will Struggle to Undo Trump’s Policies

If he wins in November, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden will have a difficult time undoing all of Trump’s immigration changes over the last four years. Legal hurdles, political pressure and crowded agenda will hamper efforts to undo all of Trump’s immigration policies, experts told Reuters. The Migration Policy Institute estimates the Trump administration has enacted 400 immigration policy changes, while others put the figure closer to 1,000. Biden plans to begin an immigration bill with a pathway to citizenship for 11 million immigrants on his first day in office, a senior campaign adviser said. Biden would also rescind Trump’s travel ban on day one, the adviser promised. But the public charge rule might be harder to untangle, as it would require issuing another regulation. Reuters

Melania Trump Explains Infamous Jacket

In a new book, “Melania and Me: The Rise and Fall of My Friendship With the First Lady,” by Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, first lady Melania Trump addresses the infamous green jacket she wore during the family separation crisis. Melania Trump toured an immigration jail holding children wearing a jacket that read “I really don’t care, do u?” on the back. In the book, Melania Trump shrugged off the storm the jacket created, “I’m driving liberals crazy,” she told the author. “You know what? They deserve it.” She went on to say that people “connect stuff to my clothes” and she wears what she wears “because I like it.”

She went on to reportedly say: “They all went crazy about the zero-tolerance policy at the border. But they don’t know what’s going on. The kids I met were brought in by coyotes, the bad people who are trafficking, and that’s why the kids were put in shelters. They’re not with their parents, and it’s sad. But the patrols told me the kids say, ‘Wow, I get a bed? I will have a cabinet for my clothes?’ It’s more than they have in their own country where they sleep on the floor. They are taking care nicely there.” She added, “Did Michelle Obama go to the border? She never did. Show me the pictures!” Vanity Fair
