Today, immigrant families will gather for a vigil demonstration at this year’s Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting ceremony, where they’ll urge U.S. Senate Democrats to offer a pathway to citizenship in the Build Back Better Act. The Senate parliamentarian already rejected the provision twice, but House members led by New York Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Adriano Espaillat, Grace Meng, and others recently signed a letter urging Senate leaders to “reinstate a  pathway to citizenship for Dreamers, TPS holders, farm workers, and essential workers in the Senate’s version of the reconciliation bill.” The vigil demonstration today is led by the New Immigrant Community Empowerment.

Search Renewed for Missing Girl in New Jersey

Cumberland County, New Jersey, authorities shared the potential present image of Dulce Maria, who was 5 years old when she went missing at Bridgeton City Park in 2019. Dulce Maria’s father lives in Mexico, and she is the daughter of American-born Noema Alavez Pérez. The mother’s boyfriend, an undocumented immigrant, has been the only person arrested in the case, but he has not been charged. Authorities investigating the case say immigrants living in the community are hesitant to speak out of fear related to their immigration status. New York Post, NJ.com
