How To Celebrate Carnival Weekend at the 2023 West Indian Day Parade

The West Indian American Day Carnival, commonly called the West Indian Day Parade, is held each year in Brooklyn, New York, on Labor Day, the first Monday in September. The 2023 West Indian Day Parade will be held on September 4, 2023, with the procession beginning officially at 10:00 a.m. 

It is the largest Caribbean carnival in North America attracting hundreds of thousands of participants. The event serves as a platform for celebrating Caribbean culture, fostering a sense of community, and promoting cultural exchange. 

The parade will proceed along Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, beginning at Schenectady Avenue and ending at Grand Army Plaza.

New York Junior Carnival

Time: 8:00 am- 3:00 pm

The parade kicks off at Kingston Avenue and St. John’s Place. It proceeds down St. John’s Place, turning left onto Franklin Avenue, then takes a right onto President Street, continuing along President Street to reach the Brooklyn Museum.

New York Carnival Panorama

The Brooklyn Panorama Competition is the largest steelpan competition in the United States, featuring various steelpan orchestras showcasing their talent and musical skills. Orchestras compete in captivating arrangements of calypso, soca, and other musical genres. 

This competition celebrates Caribbean culture and heritage in the United States, providing a platform for steelpan musicians to showcase their creativity while fostering a sense of community and pride among the Caribbean diaspora in Brooklyn and beyond.
