OMNY Card Account: Login, Reload and Reduce Fares on MTA Public Transit

While an OMNY account isn’t necessary to use your reduced-fare or Fair Fares OMNY card on NYC public transit, creating an online login unlocks the card’s full range of features. With an account, you can check your balance, monitor your progress toward earning free rides, and enable automatic refills to top off your card. Additionally, if your card is lost or stolen, you can freeze your balance for extra security.

This guide will walk you through managing your OMNY account and making the most of these features.

If you’re wondering about what OMNY card is and how it applies to you, read “How to Use the New Reduced-Fare OMNY Card on MTA Public Transit”, which covers how to create an account on the OMNY.info website.

How to use your OMNY account

After linking your debit card or credit card to your OMNY account, you will still qualify for 50 percent off of rides on the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA). Once you’ve created your OMNY account, link your reduced-fare or Fair Fares OMNY card by following these steps:

  1. Sign in at OMNY.info using your registered email and password.

Once linked, you can access your card details, including your card balance and progress toward earning free rides through fare capping, by selecting it in your wallet.

Reload your OMNY card

You can add money to your OMNY card through your OMNY account, so you don’t have to wait in line at a vending machine. Just click on your OMNY card, then tap the blue “Add Value” button at the bottom of the page. Choose the amount you want and finish the one-time reload by proceeding with the checkout.

Set up an automatic reload

One of the features of the OMNY card is that you can set up auto-reload through your OMNY account, so you never have to worry about running out of fare. You can choose a balance-based reload, which automatically adds money when your balance drops below a certain amount. Or you can set up a scheduled reload, where money is added on a weekly or monthly schedule. Follow these steps to set up auto-reload:

  1. Click “Set up reload” to the left of your balance. This will take you to a page where you can choose your reload method. The top option is the balance-based reload, and the bottom is the scheduled reload.

  1. When you select an option, you’ll be prompted to choose the amount you want to add. For the balance-based reload, enter or pick how much to reload and the balance that triggers it. For the scheduled reload, set the amount and how often you want it to reload.

  1. Finally, you’ll need to enter your debit card, credit card, or bank account details to complete the payment. OMNY will automatically charge this payment method whenever a reload is triggered in the future.

Freeze your card if it is lost or stolen

Another feature of the OMNY account is that you can instantly freeze your card if it is lost or stolen. This prevents unauthorized use within the OMNY system and protects your balance. To do this, simply go to your card in the OMNY account, locate the “Manage” button at the bottom left, and select the “Suspend and replace the card” option.
